What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion treatment is a quick, non-invasive solution ideal for cleaning, refining and smoothing the skin surface, while stimulating healthy vital reactions in the deeper layers of the skin using micro massage. The microdermabrasion machine at Vic Laser & Skincare Clinic can be adjusted to suit all types of skin from oily to dry, and can treat different skin thicknesses, giving it the ability to assist a variety of skin concerns including acne, congestion, fine lines, wrinkles, scarring, and dry, flaky skin. Depending on the area being treated, the process can take as little as twenty minutes to perform, with results being seen after just one session.

Our experienced clinicians will guide you through the steps to making drastic improvements in skin conditions such as uneven textured skin, the appearance of scarring, fine lines and wrinkles, pore size, and superficial hyper-pigmentation, also known as age spots. Microdermabrasion treatments can also encourage active skin products such as collagen and Vitamin C to work in double the time by allowing them to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin faster.

What effects will be visible afterwards?

It is normal for the skin to be slightly red afterwards, which can last up to a few hours.

Mild shedding of the skin is common in the first few days of early treatments, but is uncommon once the skin is in better condition. Where acne pustules have been treated, the area may be red and small scabs may form, lasting for several days. It’s essential that you don’t pick any scabs, as this can cause scarring. After a few days, you will see a visible improvement, with dull and stressed looking skin appearing smoother and fresher.

There is no downtime required so going to work right after is not a problem. While some slight redness may be visible afterwards, this will not disrupt daily activities. However, it’s strongly recommended to avoid sun exposure afterwards in order to obtain the best results. Why not have a microdermabrasion treatment on your lunch break.
